OpenAI's latest image model GPT Image 2 is now officially in MeteorStudio's Image gen tab. Nano Banana and the FLUX family stay; GPT Image 2 ships in three quality tiers.

Why GPT Image 2?

1. Korean text rendering is noticeably better

Thumbnails, posters, card-news style images often need Korean copy. Earlier models tended to smudge consonants/vowels or turn "ㅇ" into "O". GPT Image 2 draws Korean glyphs far more reliably.

2. Low tier at 50 credits — perfect for bulk thumbnails

For workflows like thumbnail A/B testing that generate many images, the Low tier is most efficient. Cheaper than Nano Banana (~82 credits) — for the same credits you get ~60% more attempts.

3. Prompt comprehension

With complex composition, multiple subjects, and style directives ("cinematic drone shot", "vintage film grain"), GPT Image 2 responds closer to intent.

Set as default

The Image gen page and Easy Video Builder thumbnail generation now default to GPT Image 2 (Low). To use other models, pick Nano Banana, FLUX.1 Schnell, FLUX.2 Pro, etc. from the model selector.

Note: Images previously made with GPT Image 1 still appear in history/billing as before — the library loads them without issues.

How to use it well

Thumbnail-planning stage — Low for fast variants

Early planning is about exploring direction, so don't spend much per image. Generate 4–6 with Low, then refine the winning prompt with Medium / High.

Heavy Korean text — Medium or above

Korean copy with effects renders crisper at Medium and up. Short English / numeric thumbnails can stay at Low.

Complex compositions — High

Reserve High for scenes with many people, many background objects, or strict composition.

No credit-policy changes

Other model prices are unchanged. Only GPT Image 2 was added at new prices; refunds and balance logic work identically. Subscription credits and one-time credits still draw in their existing priority order.

Q: What happens to Nano Banana?

Still available. This update only added — nothing was removed.

Q: Does the auto-retry (fallback) apply to GPT Image 2?

Fallback is Gemini-only. GPT Image 2 retries within the same model and tier on OpenAI network issues; after 3 failures, credits auto-refund.

Q: Which model for video thumbnails?

For 16:9 horizontal with Korean text, default to GPT Image 2 (Medium); jump to High only if it doesn't land — that's the most economical.
